Vivian Sandquist is a mixed media sculpture artist who focuses on automata and doll making. She creates art that the viewer can physically interact with to create a tactile experience.

Science and art are often seen as opposing forces, but both being fueled by creativity Vivian sees them as different sides of the same coin. When brought together science and art can intrigue many different parts of our brains at the same time; and her goal is in finding this over lap.

Vivian pulls visual inspiration from antiques, nature, folk art, and oddities to create a style that feels authentic to her and what she enjoys. Creating movingsculptures allows her to visually depict a span of time and motion rather than a still moment, similar to a short sculptural animation.

She hopes her art work can encourage people to find a child-like joy and excitement that can otherwise be difficult to access in our fast paced world.
