The Corvid’s Cradle (Ava) is a huge nature and animal lover. They currently spend the majority of their free time in nature often partaking in bird photography and, when the weather in Minnesota allows, foraging bones, insects, plants, and more.

Art created by @thecorvidscradle includes elegantly mounted and displayed self-processed animal bones, pinned insects, mummified remains, dried flowers, lace, metal accents, and more.

When sourcing materials and specimens that are more difficult to come by, The Corvid’s Cradle acquires materials from other small artist whose full-time job is ethical taxidermy.

Something that is important to Ava is knowing the story of the specimens / materials— how they were obtained, as well as how they passed, if possible. From there, all specimens are continually handled with the utmost of dignity and care.

Ava says that that because death can be scary and disturbing for many, performing this type of art and sharing it with others has helped The Corvid’s Cradle find peace and beauty in natural processes, such as death, and they hope that this message can be conveyed to others through their pieces as well.

Ultimately, the purpose of The Corvid’s Cradle is to appreciate the quiet beauty of life after passing; to be able to admire the soft presence of a once-living being, even in death.
