Space Usage

The physical space will serve as:

• MEETING SPACE: Communal projects, shared materials, and equipment for monthly member art nights. Outside help groups. Mutual aid.
• GALLERY: Rotating exhibitions showcasing member work and invited guest artists.
• CLASSROOM: A space to teach and learn for both members as well as outside instructors.
• STOREFRONT: Weekend store sales, occasional and thematic pop-up markets featuring art, zines, fashion, jewelry, and other hand-crafted pieces.
• COMMUNITY EVENTS: Music, city-wide celebrations, retail pop-ups, and more.

We are diligently searching for and viewing spaces, applying for grants, saving, gathering members to strengthen our fortitude, and toying with the notion of crowdfunding.

We believe what we’re forming is important, needed, and deserves a space to thrive.

Cost

$50/month. Period. No commissions taken. 

We currently exist in the ethers— that is to say, we lack a physical space— using pop-ups as our way of gathering and working together. Until we have established ourselves in a brick and mortar, we do not collect dues.

What this monthly fee covers:

• CRITICAL EXPERIENCE: Member positions giving each artist critical experience 
• STOREFRONT: Automatic inclusion to sell retail in the storefront (open on weekends)
• 0% COMMISSION: No commission fees taken
• STUDIO TIME: Partake in monthly studio events
• COMMUNITY MATERIALS: Shared access to community materials, tools, collective knowledge
• COLLABORATION: Collaborate as a collective to gain access to larger markets as a collective
• WAIVED TABLE FEES: 1 per vendor, per month waived fee for H.E.X. sponsored in-house markets of your choice
  
• DISCOUNTS: Discounts with select neighboring businesses partnering with H.E.X.
• SOLO SHOW: Every artist featured in rotation once a year for their own solo event (if desired—no pressure!)
• BOOK SPACE: Book your own event for a discounted $20/hr as the calendar allows
• TEACH & EARN: opportunity to set your own pricing and keep all your earnings (just rent the room)
  
• FIRST ACCESS: Priority access to limited classroom spots taught by outside artists for a discount
• FREE ADMISSION TO ALL MUSIC EVENTS
  
• EXPANDED REACH: Expand your clientele, social reach, and advertisement through collaborative promotion with the collective and through collective members
  
• MEMBER VETTING: Vet members together ensure a safe environment, shared positive energy, and accountability to one another and the space
• VOICE: Decision-making opportunities in collective events and decisions
• And, per Andy's request — occasional cute soup parties
